The findings from Gartner’s second quarter 2012 market share data showed, that Android-based devices are outstripping Apple globally. Samsung shipped 30 per cent more smartphones in the quarter than the same period in 2011, extending its lead over Nokia and Apple. With 21.6 per cent of the global smartphone market, it is now the biggest smartphone manufacturer. According to Gartner, the growth was driven by record sales of Samsung Galaxy.
