Shops, restaurants and cafes across Britain can now enjoy free Wi-Fi from Skype. The initiative is a call for action for retailers to use Skype to drive sales both in-store and online.
Consumers often look online before making a purchase, either to seek advice or compare prices. Consumers are also purchasing more goods online than ever before. The ability to jump online in store is simply the next step; online and in-store channels should be working together to drive sales, rather than competing.
Taking this further is the development of a mobile campaign. Retailers can create apps, working with publishers such as style blogs and voucher sites, in order to direct shoppers to their stores.
