Amazon has brought its own app store – an alternative source of Android apps to Google’s Play Store, creatively named the Amazon Appstore – to Europe. It’s the first time the Appstore has been available outside of the US, with the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain being the first five territories it’s opening in. The European launch is supported with a free copy Angry Birds, the first of the store’s free App of the Day promotions. The Appstore also features its own developer platform and special offers, and a degree of quality control.
